There are several forms of home automation that you may be considering for your space, and one of the single most common here is lighting control. Intelligent lighting allows you to control everything from simple presets to themes that match a mood or activity, and they can be applied to any lights in your home.
At AVI Systems, lighting control is just one of numerous home automation solutions we're proud to offer clients across Utah. And while such lighting controls can be applied to virtually any part of the home, there are certain rooms and areas where it's naturally most common. In this two-part blog series, let's run through these common rooms and some of the simple tips we often provide to clients on how to consider automated lighting within each of them.
Bedroom Lighting
One of the first rooms you may wish to consider is your bedroom. Automated lighting controls can be used to create a stunning ambience for both relaxation and activity, giving you greater control over how you use the space.
It's often wise to consider using several layers of strong, bright lighting for those occasions when clarity and visibility are paramount - such as getting dressed. But such lighting can also be dimmed or even turned off when you want to sleep, with soft, warm light used to create a more intimate atmosphere.
Another important thing to consider is the effects of different lighting in different areas of the room. This could be anything from a lamp near your bed to a specific spot for reading or working.
Living Room Lighting
In the living room, you'll want to create an atmosphere that works for both relaxation and entertainment. Automated lighting controls can provide you with greater flexibility when it comes to setting the mood for different activities, whether you're hosting a dinner party or watching a movie.
It might be wise to consider using separate dimmers for distinct areas of your living room, as this allows you to control the levels of lighting in each area. In addition, you could look into incorporating colored lighting around the room, which can be used to create a unique ambience and make the space feel more inviting.
Finally, consider the use of task lighting for tasks such as reading. This type of light should be bright enough that it doesn't strain your eyes but also dimmable so you can easily adjust the brightness when necessary.
In part two of our series, we'll go over other common rooms where automated lighting controls are often utilized. For more on this, or to learn about any of our home automation solutions, speak to our team at AVI Systems today.
